The Catholic Church in Clinton County - 1907 (4 parts)

Written by Louis V. Dunn in 1907 and reprinted by the Clinton County Historical Society in 2011, it contains biographies and photos of parishes, priests and Catholic institutions in the county. The booklet is "Dedicated to our Holy Father Pope Pius X" and "In memory of the Pioneer Priest." The author states: "If it saves from dispute or oblivion a single point of Catholic history, its publication will not have been in vain." TO PRINT: Download the four scanned files totaling 68 pages. Journey: The Biography of a Pastorate

A written history of Rev. FC Jean as a pioneer Catholic priest in Iowa, as well as his efforts building up and constructing St. Irenaeus parish, his struggles from within the local community and Church, and his years as a "priest without a parish" before his suspicious death in 1890.

This book is copied from the draft binder of the author, ME Eckelberg, as acquired through her estate. It is not known to be previously published.  TO PRINT:  246 pages in black and white on 8.5″x11″ paper. A large appendix with many pictures and articles begins after page 181.   8.5″ x 11″
